The Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership provides extraordinary opportunities to discover what it takes to make a difference in the world-as students, scientists, citizens, and leaders! Our experiential science education programs for grades 7-12 are designed to help students immerse themselves in unique island natural history and ecology, develop leadership skills, connect with peers, and have fun. In-Town Camp

Located at the Greater Portland Branch of the YMCA of Southern Maine, In-Town camp is for ages 5-12 (with a Leader-in-Training program for 13-16 year olds). Campers will enjoy the Y’s gymnasium, pool, art studio, and squash courts, plus trips to local beaches, parks, and attractions. We’ll fill our days with fun and excitement, including arts and crafts, games, activities, and swim lessons, plus traditional camp team-building favorites. Financial assistance is available.

Camp Kieve

Along with our sister camp, Wavus Camp for Girls [link], Kieve Camp for Boys provides a wide variety of in-camp activities paired with a progressive wilderness tripping program for boys ages 8-16. Located on the shores of Damariscotta Lake, the two campuses provide all the creature comforts one would expect from a traditional camp setting. Wilderness trips range from local overnight trips for the youngest campers to 21 night trips for the oldest campers. Our highly trained and experienced staff, many of whom were Kieve campers themselves, provides role models upon which younger boys can truly and beneficially "strive in emulation of."
