Nestled among the pines in the lakes region of Maine, Camp Tapawingo is a small, all-girls overnight camp where every camper is known, supported, and celebrated. For over 100 years, we’ve provided a safe and joyful space for girls to grow with confidence, courage, and compassion.

Our 200-acre campus is surrounded by forest, fields, and a quiet, motor-free lake — except for one motorboat: ours, used for water skiing and tubing. With no public traffic on the lake, campers enjoy a uniquely safe and peaceful waterfront for paddling, sailing, and swimming. Beneath the biggest night skies, they explore, play, and camp out under the stars.

We intentionally remain small, so campers eat, live, and play together. Through multi-age programming, younger and older campers connect, building empathy, leadership, and lifelong friendships.

Our dedicated staff focuses on both the camper and parent experience — attentive, communicative, and deeply committed to each child’s growth. Tapawingo’s long-standing ACA Accreditation reflects our commitment to excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.

Though small in size, our program is expansive — featuring Outdoor Adventures, Waterfront, Landsports, Performing Arts, Studio Arts, and Horseback Riding — all designed to inspire confidence, curiosity, and joy.

At Tapawingo, surrounded by pine trees and timeless traditions, campers find space to explore, people who truly know them, and a place that feels like home.
