The Acadia Institute of Oceanography offers a hands-on, science-based program that allows students age 10-18 a comprehensive introduction to oceanography. Founded in 1975 and located in Seal Harbor, Maine, over 200 students from around the country and the world spend two weeks on the coast of Maine exploring the geological, physical, chemical, and biological aspects of marine science. The program is staffed by an experienced and qualified group of educators trained in the field of oceanography and the environmental sciences. Rising juniors and seniors may attend one of the advanced sessions for college credit. A one-week session for 10-12 year olds is offered at the beginning of the summer.
