Originally founded in Connecticut by Dr. Luther Gulick in 1887, Timanous has been continuously operated on this beautiful lakefront site since 1920. The Suitor family has directed the camp since 1942, the present generation since 1983. In 2007, 93% of the 50 counseling staff were former Timanous campers, averaging over 10 years at camp (11 were teachers). 23 states and 7 foreign countries were represented. Innovation with traditional value oriented program instills loyalty signified by 72 second generation campers and counselors. A positive approach to discipline and freedom within structure promises improved physical skills and poise and understanding in social relationships. Extensive waterfront and trip program, woodshop, soccer, tennis, basketball, team sports, riflery, archery, climbing wall, water skiing, and sailing.
