Ben
and Emily Swan are the third generation of the Swan family to direct
Pine Island Camp. They are committed to the same goals expressed by
the camp’s founder over 100 years ago, “...to provide a happy, safe,
adventurous summer for boys.” The camp occupies a small island in a
big, clean lake, and the boys and their counselors live in platform
tents without electricity. Each day boys choose two activities
(sailing, rowing, canoeing, kayaking, tennis, swimming, fly-fishing,
archery, riflery, woodcraft and workshop). Over 40 camping trips,
ranging from one to six nights and including hiking, canoeing and
kayaking, go out each summer to the lakes, rivers and mountains of
Maine and New Hampshire and to our 90-acre saltwater island.
